Mowing

GreenCare uses state of the art lawn mowers to maintain your turf. By doing this, we are able to use the proper mowers on your property at all times. Our equipment line up ranges from riding mowers with 54 inch decks, 36-52 inch walk-behinds to 21 inch push mowers. GreenCare maintenance crews need this variety of mowers to properly care for your lawn. Our employees will not take a large riding mower into an area that is best mowed with a 21 inch push mower. Our equipment operators are well trained on this subject.

The majority of our lawn mowers are what are referred to as "zero turn" mowers. This means, quite frankly, they can turn on a dime. These mowers can mow faster and better than any mower on the market without sacrificing a quality cut. They are also very maneuverable, our operators can mow those tight spaces with ease. The best feature of the mower is that it cuts down on operator fatigue. Our people put in some long days and our mowers are easier and more comfortable to operate than others. Less fatigued workers means better quality work, happy employees, and happy customers!!!

Mowing Tips

Do not remove any more than one third of the grass blade at any one cutting. This may require more frequent cuttings in May and June.
When mowing only a third with each cutting, you can safely leave the clippings that will quickly decompose and add nutrients back into the soil. Contrary to popular opinion, grass clippings do not add to thatch buildup.
Keep your mower blade sharp! This means having it sharpened several times during the mowing season. A good idea is to keep an extra sharpened blade on hand to make sure you will always have one. We at GreenCare sharpen our blades after every 8 to 24 hours of usage, depending on mowing conditions.
Mow your lawn in a different direction with each mowing. Altering the direction ensures a more even cut since grass blades will grow more erect and will be less likely to develop into a set pattern.
Mow it high. Three to Three and a half inches for optimum results.
